Vimukthi Jayasundara
Born in Ratnapura (southern Sri Lanka) in 1977, Vimukthi Jayasundara began his career as a journalist and film critic, after directing The Land of Silence, a black-and-white documentary on the victims of the civil war, which was selected for several festivals (Marseille, Rotterdam, Berlin). He then studied in France at Le Fresnoy, studio national des arts contemporains, before taking up residency at the Cannes Film Festival’s Cinéfondation in 2003. “La terre abandonnée“ (The Forsaken Land) is his first feature film.
