Choron dernière

January 7th 2009
Georges Bernier, alias Professor Choron, died on January 10, 2005. He was 75 years old. The few obituaries that appeared in the French press focused mainly on the scatological nature of his humor or his provocative personality. No one mentioned the most important thing, which is that with Georges Bernier, it was not only one of the great leaders of the French press who passed away, but also an artist in his own right, one of a kind: Professor Choron. “Professor Choron was a gentleman disguised as a bastard. He spent his life laughing with talent at a society of bastards disguised as gentlemen: our society. (…) Yann Kerninon, contributor to the monthly magazine Zoo “He was a brilliant madman, straddling the sublime and the ridiculous. It’s scandalous that television remains closed to him or caricatures him, while all the members of Hara Kiri are adored in a glory generated solely by his energy. In the end, Choron will have sinned through a lack of selfishness. He sacrificed himself for others: Coluche, Cavanna, Wolinski, Cabu, and Co. He is a breeder of stars, and yet no one knows him; Hara Kiri has hidden him.” Francis Paudras, jazz critic
